Writer Recharge Update #3!

Whether you're delighting next to the crackling fireplace of a Shiny New Idea with a warm cup of tea and a sleepy puppy at your feet or spinning out on the ice-covered roads of revisions in an attempt to avoid the snow-packed ditch, we want to write with you! What do you want to accomplish this month? Hit a daily word count? Revise a certain number of pages or chapters each week? Complete a draft by the end of the month? Click here for more details!

My overall Writer Recharge goal is was to finish my second draft. I’ve been setting some daily goals on Twitter and last week I posted a few goals for the week…
1) get to the finale (I’m seriously almost there)
2) revise the scenes that lead up to the climax
3) participate in at least one nightly Twitter party.

Well, I didn’t participate in a nightly Twitter party L BUT I did finish my revision!

Cue happy dance. J And many exclamation points: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday I wrote a polishing list and it’s weirdly short. I’ve already scratched a few items off and am hoping to finish off the rest by Wednesday. I plan to send it off to readers Friday. And I’m both crazy nervous and excited about that.
Anyway, hopefully next Monday I can tell you that I’ve sent off the WiP. And I may or may not share an excerpt. Until then, I hope you have a fabulously final week of productivity with Writer Recharge! Let me know how it’s going in the comments!

Writer Recharge Update #2!

Welcome to week 2 of Writer Recharge!

My overall Writer Recharge goal is to *fingers crossed* finish my second draft. I’ve been setting some daily goals on Twitter and last Monday I posted a few goals for the week...
1) Finish revising (for now) the two stubborn scenes before my story’s Black Moment.
2) Get through the Black Moment. I’m mostly happy with it as it stands right now so HOPEFULLY that’s doable.
3) Participate in one nightly Twitter party.

Update: I finished those two stubborn scenes (and actually felt good enough about them to send them off to a CP!), got through my Black Moment, participated in a nightly Twitter party, AND I added a scene I’d been stewing over for weeks and fixed an issue that’s been giving me trouble for MONTHS. Revising-wise it was a good week.
And now I’m, um . . . less than 50 pages out from the end (!!!!!!!!!!) so this week I want to
1) get to the finale (I’m seriously almost there)
2) revise the scenes that lead up to the climax

3) participate in at least one nightly Twitter party.

*fingers crossed*

I’ll pop back in next Monday to update you. How’s your Writer Recharge going? Link an update to Sara's blog and tell us all about it!

Writer Recharge Update!

How’s your Writer Recharge going? Don’t know what that is? Let’s fix that!

My overall Writer Recharge goal is to *fingers crossed* finish my second draft. I set some daily goals on Twitter, and, with the inspiration and encouragement of fellow Rechargers, I accomplished many of them. I revised several stubborn scenes in the second half of my story, I completed a 12-page brainstorming doc for one of my CPs (Katy—you’re a SAINT), and most importantly—I revised and I'm still hopelessly in love with my story and characters. I still have tons of work to do, and it seems like the work is never-ending, but I’m MUCH closer to finishing than I was last week. So, yay!
This week’s goals:

1) Finish revising (for now) the two stubborn scenes before my story’s Black Moment.
2) Get through the Black Moment. I’m mostly happy with it as it stands right now so HOPEFULLY that’s doable.

3) Participate in one nightly Twitter party.
I’ll pop back in next Monday to update you.

Writer Recharge!

January is in the books and you've had to deal with:
a) polar vortices
b) ice storms
c) mountains of snow
d) gray skies and general malaise
e) all of the above

We thought our writer friends might be in need of a little boost. A jump start, if you will. A recharge.

We'd like to invite you to join us for Writer Recharge 2014, a month-long motivational challenge similar to last summer's Ready. Set. Write! So many of us benefited from setting goals, connecting with other writers, and social media-based accountability. So, hey, let's do it again! Let's get this party started!

Your hosts and cheerleaders: Katy Upperman, Alison Miller, Liz Parker, Elodie Nowodazkij, and Sara Biren

The timeline:
  • First week of February: Post your goals for the month on your blog, website, or Twitter. Use the hashtag #WriterRecharge. Link your blog post at sarabiren.com.
  • Every Monday in February: Update your progress via your blog or twitter. Link your blog posts at Sara's Monday posts.
  • Throughout the month: Use the hashtag to connect with other writers, have writing parties, and cheer one another on!
  • February 28: Post your final update via your blog or twitter.
  • Anyone who uses the hashtag or links their blog posts will be entered to win one of five query or 3-chapter critiques.

Sound easy enough? Set your goals and get started!

As for me, I'll be setting my goals and updating via Twitter. I don't know about you guys, but I've had a rough couple of months - revision-wise, writing-wise, life-wise (more on this in a future post *sigh*) and I need this recharge like my fourteen-year-old needs her iPhone.  I'll set some daily goals, join in as many Twitter writing parties as I can, but my overall goal is to kick this revision's ass. I want to be beta-ready, like, yesterday. :)

You with me? Head on over to Sara's blog, sign up, set some goals, and we'll see YOU at #WriterRecharge!
